A physical piece of computer-related equipment is referred to as hardware. Hard drives, video cards and modems are all considered hardware.

SIMM

SIMM stands for single inline memory module and refers to a series of DRAM modules mounted to a circuit board. SIMMs were commonly used in computers but have been replaced by their more efficient counterpart, DIMMs mainly due to the need to pair two SIMMs together which can be inefficient when upgrading computer memory. If you can remember nothing else, just remember that SIMMs are an older style of memory for computers.
