Definition:

A term usually used when referring to a desktop computer. A desktop computer is a computer that is stationary and not easily portable. A desktop computer is usually comprised of a computer case (called "the box" by techies) and a separate monitor although there are exceptions such as the iMac where the computer case and monitor are contained in the same component.

Because of their larger size, desktop computers usually run faster and have more storage capacity than their more portable counterpart, the laptop.

EDGE stands for Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution and represents a network standard for mobile phone communication. EDGE is used to transmit data services such as Internet and video messaging from mobile phones. Many consider the EDGE network a second generation, or 2G, network making it inferior to the newer and faster 3G networks.
