Definition:
Blu-ray is a format for high definition DVDs. Movies purchased in the Blu-ray format are specifically designed for high definition, widescreen televisions. Blu-ray movies typically display in 1080p format vs. the standard definition DVD 480p format.
Blu-ray DVDs have 6-7 times the capacity of a standard DVD and can employ DRM to prevent illegal copying of the DVD contents.

solid state drive
Very similar to a USB flash drive, solid state drives offer an alternative means to store data. Traditionally computers store data on a hard drive, which has a number of mechanical, moving parts inside of it. These moving parts are prone to fail, eventually leading to a hard drive crash. Solid state drives do not contain moving parts which means they are generally considered more reliable. They also use less power and allow you to access the data stroed on them faster than a traditional magnetic hard drive.
