480i

Definition:

The "480" part of 480i describes the number of vertical lines that make up a television or video signal. Most television or video signals are rated at 480, 720 or 1080. The more vertical lines that make up the picture, the crisper or higher definition the picture. The "i" following 480 indicates that the video display is constructed using an interlaced method.

The typical format for standard definition television programming is 480i.

DPI

DPI stands for dots per inch and is a common term used to describe the quality of a printer. If you can imagine that a printed character on a page is made up of many tiny dots, the more dots used to create that character, the better the resulting character will look. DPI describes how many of these dots can fit into one inch of a document. The higher the DPI the better the quality of the printed document.
