My day at the Verizon Wireless Connected Technology Tour

Mr. Noobie checking out the VGo

A few weeks ago, Verizon Wireless invited me to attend their Connected Technology Tour in Indianapolis. The tour mainly consisted of demonstrations of machine to machine (M2M) technology which, although not exactly in Noobie’s wheelhouse, was still fun to see and learn more about. For example, I watched a simple router powered by Verizon’s 4G LTE network serve as a home or office automation hub. Using a simple browser, a user could power on or off a light, lock or unlock a door or even turn on a

Mr. Noobie talks smartphones on the FOX 59 Morning Show

You know you have good friends when they point out that they saw you on television before you even knew you were on. That’s exactly what happened when the video segment below aired on my local Indianapolis FOX 59 station. Of course, I knew I was going to be on sometime just not exactly when. Luckily, I was still able to track down the segment so I could watch it myself and now share it with you. The segment talks about varying cell phone topics. I was asked

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you unnoticed moms!

Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother’s Day and time to thank your mom for everything she’s done for you. Even those things she did for you that you didn’t notice. What’s that? You don’t know about the things she did for you that went unnoticed? You better watch the video below now. If you can not see the embedded video above please use the following link: Unnoticed Moms And while you’re at it, here’s a quick shout-out to all the moms with kids who think she’s just like them. If you

Budweiser gives toasting a technology upgrade

Budweiser Buddy Cup

We’ve all done it. You’re dining with friends and you raise your glasses up in the air and clink them together. It’s what good friends do, right? Well, what if the act of clinking your glasses together helped you make friends? That’s the idea behind The Buddy Cup from Budweiser. Each cup has a sensor on it that detects when it makes contact with another similar cup. When the cups make contact, the two people holding the cups automatically become friends on Facebook. Cool or creepy? You decide.

Is “shipping your pants” funny or offensive?

Ship My Pants

Kmart got full media attention this week when they released a new commercial titled “Ship My Pants”, which immediately went viral on YouTube. Some people found the near 4-letter word reference offensive. Others found it hilarious. I hate to break it to everyone. But I found the commercial hilarious. What’s your take? Watch the video below and then leave your “funny” or “offensive” comment below. If you can not see the embedded video above please use the following link: Ship My Pants

You are now required to text and drive [VIDEO]

The impossible texting & driving test

I am strongly against texting and driving. In fact, I don’t think you should be doing anything with your mobile phone in your hand while driving. This includes reading email, posting a Facebook status or updating your calendar (among other things). Unfortunately, very few others share my opinion as witnessed by the number of people I see doing all of these things on the road every single day. Especially, teenagers and 20-somethings. Google Glass will be the next big thing [VIDEO]

Google Glass

I pour through hundreds of technology articles every week in order to stay current with as many of the new and upcoming technology products and services as I can. The vast majority of them don’t impress me. Then there’s Google Glass. If you can not see the embedded video above please use the following link: How It Feels [through Glass] I am 100% stoked about this new technology. In fact, I’m going to make a statement right now that I will hopefully refer back to some day to

I don’t normally take my rants to video but you’ve left me no choice [VIDEO]

Facebook name a word without this letter games

Facebook is getting overtaken with so-called challenges asking people to “name a band that doesn’t have the letter ‘B’ in it” or “name a movie that doesn’t have the letter ‘S’ in it”. There are more but I won’t name them all here. The thing that drives me crazy about these is that they are supposed to “tricky” or “difficult”. They’re not. And that’s intentional. These things are like Facebook viruses. No, they won’t harm your computer but they will annoy you to death. The majority of people

God bless the Internet [VIDEO]

goat

It’s weeks like this that I really love the Internet. First it was a video compilation of goats yelling like humans that should be a complete waste of two minutes. But it isn’t. And when I watched it I laughed and laughed. And then I laughed some more. If you can not see the embedded video above please use the following link: Goats Yelling Like Humans – Super Cut Compilation This was followed by a doctored Taylor Swift video which seemingly doesn’t make any sense unless you’re familiar

Putting Snapchat in your children’s hands could be dangerous [ARTICLE]

Snapchat

Snapchat is a new app that is quickly becoming a favorite among teens. On the surface, Snapchat is a new and fun way for teens to communicate with one another. But keep in mind that features can be deceiving and this new favorite among teens is no exception. Snapchat allows users to take pictures and videos and send them directly to their friends. Nothing new here but there’s a twist. With Snapchat, the sender can control how long the receiver can see the image or video. When time
